[recycle the system]

"Before demolishing an old building to make way for a new one, consider the amount of energy required to manufacture, transport and assemble the pieces of that building. With the destruction of the building, all that energy is utterly wasted. Then think about the additional energy required for the demolition itself, not to mention for new construction. Preserving a building is the ultimate act of recycling."--Richard Moe

A system is an "assemblage of things forming a unitary whole" in the world the architecture profession seeks to change. The old architecture system used to be controlled by the machine, where in post industrialism the world was concerned with efficiency of speed. The forthcoming catalyst system is striving for longevity and sustainability in the architecture realm. Our theme will be expressed throughout the conference to show you how to "reuse, reduce and recycle" what is truly at hand for our generation of architecture. It is more than just our practice, we have to multitask and venture out to other outlets when designing to sustain as a profession. The built environment from the past was not concerned with the consequences of the future, today we control what the architecture culture of tomorrow will be.
